The Houston Astros as some of you may know are a professional baseball organization in the Major League Baseball (MLB) based out of Houston, Texas. Now, like everyone has said from since the game of baseball was born, “If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying”. Although cheating is never condoned in any sport, baseball is a game of sign stealing, and doing anything you can to take advantage of another team on an even playing field. With that being said in 2017 the Houston Astros won the World Series title, the most prestigious award for a team in the league and maybe even the world. However, throughout the season they had used technology to illegally view the opposing teams signs at their home stadium and relayed the information to their fellow teammates by vigorously banging on trashcans. These actions in their World Series winning season went beyond the level playing field and greatly tainted the game of baseball. Not only did this change the course of a season, it allowed Jose Altuve the second baseman for the Astros who is loved by many, to win the MVP over New York Yankees Outfielder and Home Run hitter Aaron Judge. I take this to heart a little bit because the New York Yankees are my family’s favorite baseball team and so it is tough to hear that his MVP award got taken by a cheater. Now with all this said, we await to see what the League and MLB commissioner has in store for the Houston Cheaters.
